Like a monarch that reigns high in the kingdom, The Star of India sits quietly among her subjects, in glory. She is the Lady of San Diego by her majestic conquest of tourism and a Queen of the harbor. The Midway remains king…but that’s another story for another time.
Singer Melody Gardot had noted about her stay in San Diego, that from her hotel window, she looked upon the city of pirates, by the sight of the harbor. A city of ships coming and going, but this one ship takes the timeless stand and continues to show no mercy to an uprising of a modern city. It’s not a pirate ship but there are pirates that linger…the friendly, entertaining kind of course, they’ll lure you in for a price. To tour the majestic beauty, it’s just under 20$ for all the vast knowledge you can absorb and freedom to roam. If the price is too high, it’s just enough to stand in her shadow and hear the water move beneath her. So take a few shots, snap shots that is. Stay & stroll the Harbors walk for awhile and take in the casual city with its calming view. You will hear at times, the bohemians’ singing and playing their instruments. You can choose from a collection of Mexican trinkets to buy and a lovely ride on a seat behind your peddling bicycle chauffeur. Maybe they’ll  provide you with a little fringe, music or their opinion of politics, but no doubt, a little history of the city. San Diego is truly a life by the sea and a Star to shine your way. Now go get lost!
